The Ceramics' Restore course has a duration of 80 hours distributed over 10 days running for a minimum of 5 partecipants and a maximum of 10 partecipants.

Previous experience is not necessary.

• Paper band, glues, plaster, small wax sheets, mould silicone, colours: acrylic, tempera, pigments. Paint.
• Spirit stove, palette knifes, rasps, paint brushes, sandpaper, sieve, pestle.

     Ceramics:

• History of art (brief introduction to the different typologies of this art and their history).
• Ceramics technology (raw materials, manufacturing technique, technological classification).
• History of restore on antique ceramics.
• The ceramics' decay (causes and kinds of decay).
  

     Artistique techniques:

• Plaster and other kinds of integration materials (history and use).
• Different kinds of colours (their nature, typology and use, suggested technique and mode).
• The colour theory
• Paints

     Restore:

• Difference between antiquarian restore and archaeological restore.
• Brief theory and mode of restore.
• The different phases of restore.

     Products:

• The uses of chemistry on restore.
• Technical schedules.
• Use and maintenance of tools.
  

     Short account of documentation:

• Photographic documentation.
• Final report on restoration.

Practical tuitions:

• Simplification of old restores on which work and resolution of the pre-established problems. (antique items already restored).
• Research of the different pieces of an object and its analysis (archaeological items).
• Reassembling of the different pieces with the paper band.
• Definitive gluing with hot reversible adhesive and spirit stove.
• Simplification of gluing with different kinds of adhesives.
• Filling of lacunas with two different kinds of impastos (plaster and polyfilla).
• Creation of stencils in order to make easier integration.
• Reconstruction of the missing parts with silicone moulds.
• The finish off integrations with rasps and sandpaper.
• Pictorial touching up of integrations and simplifications of the different modes and techniques that can be used.
• The protection of the pictorial touching up through out paints.
